Did You Know ...

... that 71 years ago today, Nov. 14, 1941, Alfred Hitchcock's Suspicion starring Cary Grant and Joan Fontaine went into general release in theaters? Fontaine received the Academy Award Best Actress for her work, the only such award given to a Hitchcock-directed film.

... that 43 years ago today, Nov. 14, 1969, the second manned mission to the moon lifted off from Pad 39A at Cape Canaveral? Richard Nixon became the first American president to attend a manned flight liftoff.

... that 56 years ago tomorrow, Nov. 15, 1956, Elvis Presley's first movie, Love Me Tender, premiered at the Paramount Theater in New York City. The movie went into general release on Nov. 21.

Ken Tate, along with his wife, Janice, edits Good Old Days magazine and the Annie's Attic Mysteries series for Annie's, a publisher located in Berne, Ind. Ken and Janice live in the Ozark Mountains of north Arkansas on property that has been in their family for nearly a century.

Ken began working with Good Old Days in 1989 after a long career editing newspapers and magazines. It was only natural, Ken says, that Janice joined him in editing the nostalgia magazines in 1997. She had worked with him for years on various publications before the birth of their three children.

In addition to their work on the magazine and books, Ken and Janice run a small ranching operation on the 400-acre, old home place and enjoy time with their extended family. Ken is looking forward to the golden anniversary of Good Old Days in 2013, which will also mark his silver anniversary with the magazine. Retirement, he contends, is highly overrated -- at least for him.
