Ken Tate, along with his wife, Janice, edits Good Old Days magazine and books for House of White Birches, and the Annie's Attic Mysteries series for DRG. Both publishers are located in Berne, Ind. Ken and Janice live in the Ozark Mountains of north Arkansas on property that has been in their family for nearly a century.
Ken began working with Good Old Days in 1989 after a long career editing newspapers and magazines. It was only natural, Ken says, that Janice joined him in editing the nostalgia magazines in 1997. She had worked with him for years on various publications before the birth of their three children.
In addition to their work on the magazine and books, Ken and Janice run a small ranching operation on the 400-acre, old home place and enjoy time with their extended family. Ken is looking forward to the golden anniversary of Good Old Days in 2014, which will also mark his silver anniversary with the magazine. Retirement, he contends, is highly overrated -- at least for him.
